Feasible tax credits for Muskegon Township battery plant

Governor Jennifer Granholm signed Wednesday a new law that tax credits will allow for a German battery company planning Muskegon County’s largest project to create jobs for decades.

The critical $ 100 million battery-tax credit for a Dell XPS M1330 battery,Dell XPS M1530 battery , Dell XPS M170 battery planned facility in Muskegon Township. Fortu PowerCell GmbH Karlsruhe, Germany, is planning a 600 million U.S. dollars, 745-employee car plant in an industrial estate developed by Bayer CropScience in 1740 in Whitehall.

The next step is a meeting of the Michigan Economic Growth Authority board effectively awarding the credit. Local officials assume that to come either later this month or in February.

“We are still cautiously optimistic ahead with this,” said David Fisher, the town’s director of planning and economic development.
